Photoshop Tutorials Pt 1

About The Project

It is the start of sophomore year. I am taking video and design. My first design project was doing a bunch of photoshop tutorials to get to know the program better before we actually start our own independent projects. So what we had to do was follow along with videos teaching us how to edit photos using certain tools.

The Process

For the first tutorial we learned how to take out items we do not want in the backround or just do not want in the picture period. To take out items in the background I used the content fill aware tool. Then I also used that same tool to take out a logo on a surfboard.

For the second tutorial I learned how to use the patch tool to take out a logo off of a shirt that I did not like in the picture.

In the 3rd tutorial I learned how to use the clone stamp and healing brush to take off the tags a girl had on her jacket and use the healing brush and cloning stamp to make it still look normal.

The 4th tutorial was about using the clone stamp and the patch tool to remove distracting objects in the background that I did not want in the photo.

In the 5th tutorial which I thought was very useful was learning how to remove blemishes. You do that by using the healing brush and painting white over some the spots the healing tool could not fix.

In the last tutorial which was not cooperating with me so it does not look completely right. What I did learn was using a mask, Extending pictures, using filters, edge refine tool, quick select, using the brush tool to fix some spots with black and white paint, and making everything look put together as 1 photo.

My Thoughts

I liked learning all the tools. Some things I did not like was having to use a video to learn, I would rather have an actual teacher tell me what to do. I did not like the videos also because the guy had a different version of photoshop so some of the tools did not work. Things I would change would be fixing the girl in black photo because some parts of the background do not look clean and the shoulders are cut off and that was one thing I could not get to work. I gained a lot of knowledge and more experience with photoshop and learned how to use many tools I did not know before. Overall I thought most of it was fun to learn until it got frustrating because photoshop did not cooperate with me.

Printing Process

Relief Relief printing process is when someone draws a picture into a wooden block or lithium metal. Then they use a roller that has ink all over it, then covers it with ink. Then they will put a piece of paper flat on the wooden or metal block. Then they use a roller to flatten out and press the paper on the carved block then you peel the paper off the block and then your done. You can carve the block by useing a chemical then drawing a sketch on a piece of paper then tracing it into the block with pen or sketch it out on the block and use different types of carving tools.  Intaglio This print process starts with a plate of medal which goes through a cleaning process then it gets some ground applied which is a combo of asphalt and rosin then it is spread all over the surface of the medal plate. Then the metal plate is smoked under a fire. Then the sketch gets scratched on and removes the ground with acid. Then its ready to print by using ink. Lithography This pri...

Semester 1 Final

Reflection This semester I have learned a lot. Like using Photoshop and Illustrator. I like Photoshop personally because it is a lot easier to learn and I like photography and editing my photos better than making graphics on Illustrator. My two favorite Photoshop projects have been one of the first ones we did, which is the "Nature Man" one. I also really liked the Panorama one. Nature Man For this project we were given a picture of this man and a bunch of nature pictures. We had to put them together by using clipping masks to create a "Nature man". I do not remember how long this took because we did this project at the beginning of the year. I had trouble just getting started and trying to decide what I wanted my vision for him to be. I honestly just played around with it until I made something I liked. I learned how to use photoshop a lot better like using those clipping masks to put more than 1 picture together to create just one picture. The feedback ...

Photoshop Challenge: Nature Man

About The Challenge My class was given a challenge to use a photo of a man and to use masks and blending modes to change for example his hair, clothes, background etc. One of the rules was that we had to keep his face seen. We were given different pictures to use or we could use ones that we found online but we are supposed to keep him nature oriented. Hence the title "Nature Man." The Process To be honest I had no I dealt what I wanted to do and I did not really have any inspiration at first. I just used the photos given and messed around with making masks and just seeing what I could come up with. Then I decided I was doing too much and that maybe I should try to keep it more simple. So I only changed the jacket with like ocean rocks then I wanted to make his hair cool but it never really worked out so I just skipped it. Then I changed everything to black and white besides my nature photos. Then I added a background but it looked weird if the guy was black and whit...
