Feature Story


Overview Of The Project

For our project in video we were assigned a partner, then we had to make a featured story about something about them. First we just got to know the person and we just talked for one class period. While talking to Blake (who was my partner) I took some notes about him to figure out what story I should do about him. Then I tried to come up with top 3 topics then I tried to come up with questions and the one I could come up with the best and most questions became my featured story. My featured story was finalized to be about Blake working at AMC. First I came up with a list of 21questions I could ask him. Then I decided to get some B-Roll at AMC the following weekend. During class while I was waiting for the weekend to come I made a lower third. After I got B-Roll I Interviewed Blake at ONW in the Auditorium. We chose that place because we couldn't find a quieter place that also had good lighting at AMC. After the Interview I edited my videos of the interview together and picked what parts I liked best. After that I wrote and recorded my voice overs. Then I put the B-Roll in to finish my Project. 

Reflection

I learned that for my interview I shouldn't wing it because I had trouble kind of having more questions to ask him and which questions I should ask. I also talked while he was talking a few times so I had to cut out those parts. That is also what I would do different. I would keep my voice overs the same because I thought they were pretty good and flowed together well. Since this was my first story I will remember to try not to trick the audience and also cover jump cuts with B-Roll.

Trailer

Pre-Production For this project we got assigned groups to recreate a movie trailer. My group chose Napoleon Dynamite because it was short, easy and, funny. After we decided on our movie we had to story board and fill out the beat sheet. The hardest part was casting because it was hard to find a time everyone is free or just people who wanted to be in it and fitted the character.  Production We filmed for about a week and a half and getting the school shots was easy and we got those done with fast during school. It was hard to schedule the out of school shots but we got it done.  Post Production New things I learned with premier was editing the speed of a video to have shots slowed down and I also used a filter to make it seem more cinematic. I also used audio effects to try and fix the sound from the wind. How To Print Out A Doc. At ONW

width="560"> Pre-Production Our creative process was to name all the steps first on how to create a document and print it out then we looked at all the shots and put them on our story board to see which type of shot would make sense for each scene.Then we each used the iPad to just take pictures of each shot. Then we decided that I would be the actor for the video and Jaidyn would be the director and film.  Filming Like I said before my role was just the actor and I learned that you have to act like the camera isn't there and not pay attention to other things around you. I also helped like place the iPad in the right places and i learned how to make your shots level and use the 3 thirds rule. Editing I also edited the video. Quarter 4 Final Project

  About The Project  For the last quarter of E-9 we had a shark tank project. A shark tank project is when we get put in groups of 4-5 and we had to be basically apart of a made up business. For our business we needed a name for our company, a product, a logo for our product and company, a coupon, ads, a commercial, and a 3D model of our product. Then after we have done all of that and put it all into our website we had to present it to about half of the freshman E-Comm program. All of this took us about 2 months to do all of this.  Our product was called the LI. It stands for Language Interpreter. It can translate any language for you with an earpiece that tells you what to say and glasses that can read off what someone says or even writing.
