About The Challenge
My class was given a challenge to use a photo of a man and to use masks and blending modes to change for example his hair, clothes, background etc. One of the rules was that we had to keep his face seen. We were given different pictures to use or we could use ones that we found online but we are supposed to keep him nature oriented. Hence the title "Nature Man."
The Process
To be honest I had no I dealt what I wanted to do and I did not really have any inspiration at first. I just used the photos given and messed around with making masks and just seeing what I could come up with. Then I decided I was doing too much and that maybe I should try to keep it more simple. So I only changed the jacket with like ocean rocks then I wanted to make his hair cool but it never really worked out so I just skipped it. Then I changed everything to black and white besides my nature photos. Then I added a background but it looked weird if the guy was black and whitened I thought he looked better colored. Then I Put a mask of the sky on his hair to make it have like a tint of blue and a dusty kind of faded style. Then I used the paint brush to blend in and do touch ups and it started to make this white glow outline and I thought that looked cool, like the bottle. Then I used the clone stamp to fix some spots.
What I Learned
I learned how to make and use filters like black and whit plus color adjustment. I also learned how to use the paint brush tool to fix the color to make it more or less faded. I also learned to use clipping masks a lot of them. Lastly I used the clone stamp tool for touch ups. I also used the quick selection tool to make masks.
Reflection
Things I would do differently is expand my skills more and have more of an idea and inspiration. So I can make it better. I would use clipping masks the same because it was a good and easy method to use. I learned how to use photoshop more and I feel like I mastered using masks and he quick selection tool in this experience.
